The lens is an early autofocus Nikkor lens, focused about as close as it gets. Circa 105mm in in focal length, it is probably less as a lens has a tendency to have a lesser focal length when extended further from the image reproducer - at least the old ones did. This lens autofocuses internally. Hand held, 1/500 f/11 EI 200 D70, no sun shade. Ergo, the lens is not at an optimal aperature for macros, but at a semi reasonable one for a hand held. There was a touch of wind as well. Unless a lens as designed as a macro from the conception, f/22 would cause defraction error - so it was taken fast.
